Killing Stalking fandom is a cancer (?) [ENG]

Is Killing Stalking fandom a “cancer”?
The answers is: yes, unfortunately, but not ALL of it.

There’s this whole discussion about how certain fandoms are a cancer to the anime/manga community, what they meant to say with this is: a group of fans that ruins the experience of other fans by their annoying, often obsessive and immature ways. I’ve found those obsessive fans everywhere, not only in this community, however their presence is STRONG here, the KS fandom is getting notorious for its craziness, specially thanks to the fujoshi who are particularly hated.

Here’s what I think:Killing Stalking is NOT a series for kids, it’s a dark, psychological thriller, full of abuse and emotional manipulation, the characters have complicated mental problems that a 11 – 16 year-old WILL NOT understand, I’m sorry if you are one of those 14 year-old who absolutely love KS, you shouldn’t be reading it, and it’s very possible you DON’T understand it.

Don’t call me names in the comments, it’s just a fact. That’s why age restriction exists, not only to avoid traumatizing a young mind, but also because the theme is too much for a younger mind to understand.

Let me give an example of what happens when a “kid” watches something with more substance:  I heard from a student (16ish…I’m not sure) that she didn’t like a Silent Voice much because the romance was not shown, so, in her words, the movie failed in the romance area. I responded by explaining to her that silent voice is not a love story, and she didn’t get it, she insisted that it could have at least a kiss or something, no matter what I said she didn’t understand that IT WAS NOT A LOVE STORY.

Killing Stalking has a similar problem: a lot of fans want to see Sangwoo fall for Bum, or being more loving towards him. It doesn’t matter if I explain that Sangwoo is a psychopath, they don’t care, they want to see their romance. He’s a psychopath, there will NEVER be any real deep feelings, there’s a lot of manipulation, yes. There’s the feeling of ownership, yes. Romantic love? Never.

READ ABOUT PSYCHOPATHS, PLEASE, but they probably won’t, because it’s a dense, difficult subject to study.
My point is immaturity is a major cause for this annoying fandom, it’s even more obvious that they are immature when they tell you that they understand Sangwoo’s a psychopath, but Bum could “cure” him or “something”.
WHAT?
A cure for a sadistic psychopath? A cure for a serial killer? In what world do you need to live to believe that? A Disney world, a world that only naïve kids and some teenagers live. THERE IS NO CURE. The only cure for a psycho is the death penalty.

One thing is to wish for them to be together forever, killing people, having dirty sex, torturing together, etc… But, please, understand that doesn’t mean they love each other, they are sick. Sangwoo doesn’t have the ability to love and what Bum feels is not love, he’s obsessed not in love.

And, please, don’t even star with the “but this”, “but that”, it’s not gonna happen, again: read about psychopaths, read about stalkers, read about how sexual abuse can affect people.

Crazy scenery: What if Koogi herself turns KS in a love story? It’s unlikely, but….what if she did?
I’d stop reading it.

Killing Stalking is the story of a disturbed stalker that gets   “stuck” with his “obsession” who happens to be a Serial Killer. That’s what I love about it. There are plenty of romances on the internet that I can read and think pink, glittery things about it. KS is not one of those, and if the author went nuts and decided to make a psychopath fall in love it’d be just very bad writing.

So… what can the community do to stop the “cancer” from spreading? Not much.

Thanks to piracy the stories are online for everyone to read/watch. Behind the computer everybody can write the crap they want, so  we can only try to educate people, explain things and ask people to keep it respectful…..but many 13’s boys/girl have no interest in listening to others, nor care about being respectful, so we just have to be patient or …. keep a safe distance.

p.s: I am a fujoshi, I love everything BL and Yaoi, the thing is I’m also over 30, so... very low tolerance for teen crap.
